I’ve had insomnia for the 4 years since my stroke now and am at my wits end and struggling to function . I’ve stopped going out as just to sleepy all day my GP has tried his best to help and we’ve tried everything under the sun. As a last resort he’s just told me to stop my statin (artorvastatin) for a month as can be a rare side effect. Would love to know if anyone else on the forum has suffered this side effect.
I don’t sleep well but didn’t connect it to the Atorvastatin,am on a very low dose of it
I have found since my stroke I sleep better than I ever have.
It’s good that your GP is looking at all options for you. I hope atopping the statin works for you. There are alternatives you can take if necessary.
Best of luck insomnia is miserable. I had it when I hit the menopause. It was honestly really miserable.

…in that case, with all my heart, I would suggest Earthing / Grounding. Do some research if you like, but try it. It can be as “simple” as re-establishing contact with the Earth by standing barefoot on your lawn. I do it 45 minutes a day. I have been in your exact situation with sleep, with statins. I know this predicament inside out.
You’ve already taken a few good steps in the right direction. Good luck, Roland
