Anyone here use a Life Glider?

Hi everyone, has anyone here had experience with a Life Glider? It’s an odd name, for an even odder contraption, but I recently got one.

It enables you to walk upright, hands free, with virtually no risk of falling, so it is good for me as my stroke arm makes an ordinary walker very difficult to use, and I am very aware of the unforgiving nature of the ground if I was to fall!

But it is hard work to get used to it - it’s like a full body workout - and I overdid it on the second day I had it (walked 30 minutes, very slowly) and was a wipeout next day. So now I am going for 15 mins at a time until I can use it a bit better. I still believe it could be a real game changer.

How It Works - LifeGlider (makes it look so easy!)

There are heaps of other videos on YouTube if you are interested, but I would love to hear if anyone actually has one, and how you have found it.

From what I can see of the third video on their website It’s a near identical twin to a rollator

With the exception that you stand within it rather than behind it? Which thus means your centre gravity is not artificially moved.

When looking online I was able to find multiple other makes of similar devices such as

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/296610056586

They look like a good idea because of the better posture They promote.

I was struck how much the price is varied and I guess the degree to which they couldn’t be collapsed for transport plus the size of the wheels they use will greatly affect their usability out and about

I would guess you would get some first hand accounts in places like the MS forum If you don’t get any here  - a brief search shows that nobody has mentioned them by that trade name thus far

This has sparked my interest as nearly a year on I still cannot walk without an aid, my therapist is introducing me to a walking stick from the tripod, but this walker appears to help also with your balance and keeping your centre of gravity. It would compensate for my wheelchair as cannot walk very far with a stick, thank you for sharing

I’ve seen someone using something very similar on a hospital vidit recently but don’t have any personal experience. It does look like it would be much better for your posture.

Hopefully someone will be able to give you some lived experience advice.

I’d be interested to hear how you get on.

On the link I’ve given, look at the middle video, “setting up and using” - this is a comprehensive look at it.
