I had a tracheostomy fitted following my stroke and was decannulated (had it removed four years later.i need advice because the stoma(hole) hasn’t closed of it’s own accord which it was expected to do and I now probably have to have it sutured under GA.i can’t speak yet and my ability to do so is hampered because air comes out of the stoma rather than through my vocal chords.

@Mich-mm This is a question for the professionals. Unless someone on here is medically qualified they would not be able to answer. However all someone could share is if its happened to them, but we are all different and this I feel is for your GP or hospital doctors. Good luck ![]()

Hopefully they can sort your stoma out quickly for you and that the road to speaking will then be a smooth one. .
