Any Freemasons on here that have stories to share?

I had my first stroke nearly 4 weeks ago, a right side Ischemic. I consider myself fortunate, in that I lost some use in my left hand and foot but I’ve been working hard and can now already get some feeling and use back. The only thing is the fatigue which can knock me for six some days.

I was wondering if there are any Freemasons on here that would like to chat. I’d be keen to hear your stories; I’m particularly interested in how / if you got back into regular meetings, how you got on with the ritual and floorwork. I’m a very very tiny bit worried especially as this years SD, I might not be able to fully get back in the swing of things.

I think you just ‘earnt’ the badge for ‘most niche question’

I hope you’re progress is sufficient for for masonic needs!

Haha! I hope Admin can make me a badge for it!

I can’t be the only one, bearing in mind there’s an estimated 24,100 Masons in the UK, and with UK population at 67m and strokes at 100,00 per annum…

It’s no different to somebody asking, for example “I used to play golf with a handicap of 6, but now I worry I’ll struggle to complete a round” so I’m hoping I can find somebody to talk to.

Cheers for your reply,
Jason

Hi @jase_stevens

Yeah I agree

It’s possible for custom badges to be created.
(Since about 2015 I believe)
Can only be done by admin if specific SQL badge creation permission is enabled otherwise it needs to be done by somebody in the staff category (un like raising the like multiplyer this actually does have security implications (if you have rogue admins)

But it’s not hard
But good luck getting heard :frowning:

I wonder if you could approach the lodge and ask them what adjustments they can put in place to help you. For example if learning the ritual is difficult can someone help you or can you have it written down or someone speaking it in your ear? Could you have a walking aid to help?

I’m sure in today’s society there are many things they can do to support even if they have to seek permission elsewhere to do so.

I’m not a freemason these are just some things that spring to mind.

Good luck I hope you get back to freemasonry soon.

Hi @jase_stevens

Great question! As you say, there are many people who are freemasons so it’s quite possible we have some people on here who are. If we do I’m sure they’ll be along to provide some support.

Great suggestion @Mrs5K about speaking with the lodge.

Keep us updated on your progress with getting back to it.
