Am I experienced? I'm 79, had my second stroke over last weekend -- and that's not all

In the middle of an online face-to-face group I’m a part of on Friday nights I stood up, out of my wheelchair, to reach over and draw the curtains across the window.

I did a starnge little wobble and fell sideways onto the very hard and solid corner of my bed. There was one heck of a crash that, for a moment, woke up everyone in my meeting and brought Hilary downstairs to see what was going on.

I fell on my knees and slowly, painfully slowly, shuffled to the side of the bed where I began to heave myself onto the mattress.

Once onto the bed and on my back the panic began to subside. Hilary checked my back. The skin was broken where I’d hit the bed.

Since then the wound has partially healed but is weeping a bit and surrounded with bruising.

The option to go to the local hospital is off the table. The last time I was there I sat for 20 hours until being sent home having had my blood pressure read. Coudn’t go through another of those sessions.

So I’m sat here, having just got up on this Monday morning, feeling sorry for myself, black, blue and sore.

From what I read I must take heart.

By now my character is built as solid as a brick s**t house and I, in myself, am strong, much stronger than before, at least so I am lead to believe.

A new week.

Things can only get better.

keep on keepin on

Oh no @Bobbi you must take care. Hopefully you have done no more damage than a cut & bruises. Don’t forget you have just had a 2nd stroke & whilst you may feel relatively unscathed from it it will still have taken its toll. No acrobatics today please.

Bobbi - you better than anyone on this forum, know the rules …

You listen to everyone, you evaluate, and then you do as you see fit.

Only you know what you are going through and how you feel, with the exception perhaps of Hilary who may now be able to second guess, and only you can decide what’s right for you whether that is to get some rest, go the hospital, get some pain killers or whatever.

You know your body and your body is telling what it wants you to do.

Have a lovely day

Hi @Bobbi so shocked to hear of both your wife’s @HHilary recent experiences, I hope you are both getting fitter and stronger each and every day. It just shows how our lives can change in an instant and we have to live it and take advantage of every second. Keep on keeping on and both of you keep on getting well! Bert aka John

Ouch. The perils of online video. I’m glad you are okay though. A few months back, my youngest son picked me up (his version of a hug) but this time he picked me up too low. I have restricted reflexes, so I just flipped backwards onto the floor and crashed my noggin on a book shelf. Arrr, the pirating life of a stroke survivor. :pirate_flag:
