Please can anyone advise on any care agency/worker who will provide me with one week respite for my husband, we are in Fife Scotland. We will fund ourselves. He was in respite la funded and hated where they put him, so will not go in carehome. So I need live in care for him. Have tried many agencies but getting no where as most only do daily or long term, or seem to be based down south so do not have PVG. Last 2 recommended were in London and not willing to travel, despite me clearly telling agency we were in Scotland. Getting really desperate as need to go and help sister with mother who needs to go into care (sister seriously ill) and is adamant she will not go. NO suitable accommodation at sisters or nearby for me to take him with me, and I no longer drive.
In case you haven’t already tried these, using Google search I found a couple of providers that may be able to help.

I hope this helps.
Failing that, you may have to take the hit and put your husband in a care home for respite whilst your help your sister and mother.
Wishing you all the best.
Thank you so much for responding, i am registered with Curam but have found out that as they are a matching site, not a managed site! The carers cannot give my husband his Pentagablin for pain as it is a controlled drug and they are not allowed to handle (even open the packet) controlled drugs - That has thrown me, I must admit, we have tried if I put his drugs in a tablet case but he cant open it and again they are not allowed to open a tablet case if there is a controlled drug in it. Looked at the first one you suggested, they do not do South Fife which is where we are - Dunfermline. So the hunt continues. Thank you again.
That is quite a challenge you have on your hands. Hopefully you will be able to sort something out. Maybe finding a good care home might have to be the way to sort this since clearly these are exceptional circumstances.
All th best.
hi @CarolSoep , this is not my area of expertise it’s usually young adults/ children in care that I deal with. Have you tried your local area team in Dunfermline - can’t recall their number as its been years. They may be able to help , do you have any form of home support in place?
Also if you have support how about seeking support for you to have some respite too? You would benefit from time out and support in place to allow this, your GP could help with this.
It is important too care for the carers at times to ensure that they can do what they need to do in order to support a loved one. Hope that you het some assistance and you both get the help and support you need.
