Recovery goals were completed I set myself two years ago
Physically enter our pharmacy and collect my prescriptions in person rather than my wife walking in
Enter our Spar shop and buy something for our use, not been in although a stick assist I did it
Was out on the scooter and we needed some refreshments for the football tonight so I parked up extended my stick and hobbled in with my wife waited by the counter while she selected her purchases an hobbled out to put our stuff in th scooter bag strapped to my seat, very useful and drove it home.
Not much to an independent person but it was a powerful experience for me.
Amazing Mark, they are great achievements and always a boost when you achieve a goal you have set yourself. Hope you enjoy your refreshments for the footie tonight.
Thanks Sue next time I need to drive there in aided and going and out to collect the meds and then go into the spar and actually go around with a basket and buy something useful.
That is great! One of my goals is to get to my Spar. It’s only a short walk usually and I often walked around to it for bits and pieces i needed, albeit slowly before my stroke. Now it’s a goal I have aimed for. I tried on my stick with my husband recently, and eventually got there, but getting back I was in so much pain with my legs, so its still a goal, and one day I will do it ! Well done you though
@mrfrederickson , hey, never mind what “fit people” think. They don’t know what you are going through. At the end of it all, you did something you probably thought you couldn’t do again. Kudos @mrfrederickson , kudos.
@mrfrederickson , exactly. You’ve achieved a goal. Now look at the next thing you want to do. As I said, stuff what “fit people” think. If the start getting seriously ill, they won’t find it funny. As for the sandals, I’m not sure. Sorry.
Following your advice I’ve been keen to was our car all on my own something I’ve now achieved with a couple of water bucket fills and the passing over of my drying cloths
The key was negotiating the handheld pressure washer band not spilling the snow foam when one handed pouring, something I’ve never had to do before but now conquering this hurdle means Inca pressure washer band the car at a time of my choosing.
Thanks johonny our amazing Garden needs regular trimming so I’m equipped tondo it myself and use my able bodied son on the heavy or tall things like hedges and shrubs
Go @mrfrederickson you are doing great with firsts lately. Well done. We can often do more than we might think if we just give it a try and adapt the way we do things.
