Accessing Lloyds banking app after stroke

My Dad used to unlock his mobile phone with a PIN and open his Lloyds banking app using his fingerprint.

He recently had a stroke which has left him with vision, memory and cognitive problems. This has meant he can no longer have a password, PIN, pattern or fingerprint lock on his mobile phone. As recommended by occupational health, his mobile phone does not have any lock set.

This also means to open his Lloyds app he must now enter three random characters from his memorable information, different characters each time. He really struggles to understand and remember what he needs to do at this point.

We can’t use Face Lock as that requires a password, PIN, pattern to be set when unlocking his mobile phone.

Currently, he can only access his Lloyds banking app if/when I’m with him so I can enter the three random characters from his memorable information. This has a detrimental impact on his independence, confidence and overall recovery and the mental health & wellbeing of both of us.

I’ve asked Lloyds and all they’ve done so far is provide a link that I’d already checked before contacting them and isn’t helpful.

If anyone can please advise of any suitable solutions please, I’d be really grateful. He was using Google Pixel before his stroke and now using Doro 8200. Changing to a different bank isn’t an option, as my Dad will never change from Lloyds having been with them all of his life.

I’ve had exactly the same experience but with Barclays and they won’t issue a new pin and card until.I assign power of attorney to one of my 3daughter’s.

I suspect there isn’t a lot you can do as all banking apps will have the same security features. I know when my hubby recently started using his phone to make drbit / credit can payments he waa forced to enter a pin on his phone otherwise he couldn’t adc a card to the wallet app.

Hopefully the issue will be a short term one and as his recovery progresses he will be able to go back to doing it all for himself. I know it is far from ideal but it is a securith feature to stop his money being accessed inappropriately & maye explaining that to him might help - you might have already done this.

Best wishes

Entering 3 random characters could be something you can work with him to practice. A goal to work towards!

Entering 3 random characters is something I have already been working with him to practice. A goal he isn’t interested in working towards!

Ah, well. If he’s not interested there’s nothing you can do.
