Hello wonderful people,
Yes, I do believe I’m having a good day. I usually post when my condition is dire, but today I’m as good as rusty and stiff… which is pretty good for me. We know that the difference between a good day and a bad day is just attitude, so a complete rehaul of our attitude should change our lives! Suddenly we’re open to new possibilities and better days that lie ahead. There’s suddenly nothing to moan about.
I’ve just completed (100%) the excellent course by Arjan Kuipers, a Functional Neurologist
it has seen me through thick and thin, and I feel I have a concrete tool I can fall back on any time. The main theme of the course is building back the brain, from the bottom up, from primitive reflexes to higher brain functions i.e… once you are able to refine movements (assuming you have problems with the motor cortex part of your brain). I cannot speak highly enough about this course.
Then I have my wonderful team, a Chinese Dr, a Radiologist, chiropractor, psychiatrist (next week), friends who support me and best of all, my amazing wife. My Chinese Dr keeps reminding me that “nobody comes back from such a severe stroke”. It was a 26/42 on the NIH scale, 22 months ago and I’m off to Kos on holiday at the end of the month. We’ll see if I make it back!
My Hallux day, though still there, is subsiding slowly. Yesterday I went to the After Stroke group, (on Hallux day, which happens every 3 days) then finished off a painting in the afternoon, spoke to my new psychologist and had a session with my Chinese Dr. My latest thinking on my 2-day and 3-day cycles is that my body wants to recover, and is, but the cycles are the best way to manage my difficulties… so they (my ailments) become intermittent instead of continuous. What a marvel, the human body / mind!
Have a great day all, I’m going out walkies for an hour (probably 0.75 km)
Ciao, Roland
