A book I hope will inspire

Hello everyone. I had a haemorrhagic stroke two years ago (May 2023), spending four months in hospital and have been slowly putting the pieces back together since. As a sports writer for 40 years, obviously the best therapy for me was to write everything down as I went along and I’m happy to say that the result is this book, available as we speak. I’m very hopeful it will give insights that will inspire those of you out there who feel low and lost (I still do myself at various times during the day) but also entertain and educate. I’d be thrilled to get your feedback and also that you might spread the message about the book to friends and family. It’s no fun typing one handed so have pity on me. I did my best. Good luck to you all. Never give up! Neil https://www.waterstones.com/book/brushes-with-a-stroke/neil-harman/9781836801474

PS: It is also available on amazon.co.uk and elsewhere

Hi Neil, i will have a look later but I just wanted to say well done on writing your book. Not easy without a stroke. I hope you’re proud of your achievements.

I’m quite interested in the idea of speaking and getting a program to transcribe it into text. The sort of thing a smart phone can do these days.
I don’t know if it would work for the way I write, but it might be worth a try.

(I just tried it and I find that typing slows me down making me more methodical and thoughtful. I find the message then comes through onto the page. Dictation is too quick the thought processes have insufficient time to work. It is a skill I don’t possess. So I suppose it is an individual thing. We were never created to be uniform in thought word and deed. It is variety that enriches our experience. I am happy to be as I am and equally happy to accept others as they are.)

@Strokevictim57 Good luck with your book. :+1:
