£600 and gone Iam so embarrased

I really hope you get your money back. I think you should do. Glad you’re feeling a bit better about things. It’s horrible to be scammed but they are so professional at it these days.

Best wishes

@Mrs5K There is no reason why @Fallenleaf should not get her money back. Have a great day :revolving_hearts:

@Fallenleaf , don’t blame yourself. Scammers like to target people who have long-term illness (i.e. stroke victims). I echo what others have said: change passwords, keep an eye on various accounts etc. This scam you’ve gone through happened to a neighbor of mine a few days ago. He lost £1000. He’s working with police and his bank to get his money back. Hope you got your money back. :hugs:

It’s so easy to fall prey to scammers. My husband, who has not had a stroke was conned out of over £100k on non-existant ‘investments’ all our retirement savings. And he is bright and intelligent. If he can fall for scammers’ promises, so can anyone. If it sounds too good to be true, it almost certainly is. Since my stroke 3 months ago I have felt more angry about it than I did before. But I promised no recriminations so I haven’t been cross with him. My anger is directed at the scammers.

@revdoreen , I hope you and your husband got your money back. If you check a BBC program called ‘Scam Interceptors’ (you probably find it on BBC iPlayer) you’ll find many in your situation. Also, there are hints and tips on what to do if your scammed. Hope this helps.
P.S. your right. Be angry at the scammers. They are to blame.

The problem is that he won’t do anything about it. I think he’s so ashamed he doesn’t want anyone to know and only reluctantly told me. We can’t really afford to write the money off but I feel I must respect his wishes and I do understand his motifs in saying nothing. In his shoes I too may have acted the same way. Hey no I wouldn’t - I wouldn’t have believed the tales the scammers used.

whoops it should have been motives not motifs

@revdoreen That’s stupidity to be too proud, that’s letting the scammers win. You could end up helping someone else or prevent them from being scammed.

@revdoreen , then I reckon you should take matters into your own hands. try contacting the police fraud squad. Get them involved. The longer you leave it, the worse it’ll get. Also, lack of action gives carte blanche to be more brazen.

@revdoreen , @IreneFC is not wrong. Scammers are overall, unscrupulous. They are the sort of people who would probably rob their families of there last £5. As it’s said in Ireland: “They would rob your eyeball and come back for the lashes later”.

Anyone robbed me of my eyeball, they’d certainly get lashes. :joy:
