Hi all am I being silly being anxious after banging my head this afternoon? Taking Clopidogrel, feel ok just worried but then again worried about any headache after my stroke ![]()
If your worried ring the NHS Helpline 111. Ok some may say a waste of time. But I’ve always found them very helpful and caring.
Not silly at all, that’s what anxiety after stroke does to you. Every little thing becomes a source of worry, and it’s not your fault. 111 is a good choice, as @Gnasher said. I hope your headache has gone and you’re feeling better this morning.
If you are worried just because you banged your head, then I would suggest it is probably not worth worrying about. People bang their heads, stub their toes and all sorts of other things all the time. These types of accidents are just that and nothing to worry about.
On the other hand, if the reason for banging your head was not accidental and you can pin it to something specific then you can further investigate that and take any necessary action. If this is something that is happening more often, it may be worth investigating, but otherwise worrying about banging your head is not something that will help you.
This subject (worries) is discussed oftentimes on this forum and so if I may, I will recycle one of the posts from not so long ago. Have a read and if you still feel you should worry, come back and see if you can tell us why exactly you are worried.
Take care|
P.S. Here is a PS ...

Worries do not survive well outside our heads. Talking about a
worry can help us to see the bigger picture and can help with
finding possible solutions or planning actions. Try and meet a
friend or relative and tell them what is on your mind. We all
worry and you can be sure they will also have things that they
worry about.
I have banged my head many times since my stroke & in the early days I worried a lot about it but now I don’t worry as much. If you are worried try 111 & they will go through things uou need to look out for after banging your head. but I suspect you’ll know if you really need to worry. Hope you feel better today.
Great advice from everyone. Personally I would call 111. Hope you find this information and advice helpful and that you are feeling better soon.

Hi @Nanag for a while post stroke and still today I can have crippling headaches that can last two minutes up to two hours, have banged my head a few times one minor in my house the other at work. Nearly concussing myself that one my boss took me to hospital as a precaution. It hurt like hell but no damage I wasn’t too worried either time second at worst the pain was bad but no side effects thankfully. i tend not to worry but have done the self checks of smiling , raising my arms etc after each clout just in case. take things easy also just in case I’m with the others if you are really insure or worried please get checked out. Hope it goes well for you and please let us know too,
Thus is a great tip
- quick and easy way to reassure yourself.
To help me understand, this is for @JBob and @Nanag - how is it you are banging your head?
What are you doing at the time you are banging your head and what are you banging it on?
Are you falling down or something? How does this happen?
Is it predictable? I mean do you get some warning you are about to bang your head or do you only find out after the event?
Good advice to do the usual checks, do feel bit easier today. I was trying a bit of gardening and banged it on a branch. So many things to be aware of now but keeping on trying.
Garden concussions seem to be a regular thing for me, too, especially when I’m working under our apple trees. A good excuse for a sit down and a cup of tea.
For me the first was when I was released from hospital to my parents house. Kitchen orientwation is wildly different so was opening cupboard doors to look for a bowl turned round to discover one hadn’t closed so caught it flush on my forehead
, at work had made it into a walk in low height storage room backed up and to far too fast banging the back of my head properly had forgotten the low height. As it was work was taken to hospital fora quick check. No issues or injuries except maybe to my pride. Both isolated and never had issues with sight just forgotten where I was.
