Jan told me she has now replaced her quad stick for a normal walking stick - and has proceeded to walk to physio, climb a flight of stairs 3 times and walk back to her ward (go girl!!)
I have avoided a fall. Every time i move, i will have my safety back up. In the garden I push a fork into the soil so that i can avoid a fall. I tumble and stumble, but i really could do without a harmful fall.
i am fairly fit, not overweight etc, but my brain is not well connected to my feet. Four plus years and i still have to fight to stand up, especially if i sit on the floor.
another dry and sunny day down here. We need rain and lots of it.
I did not include in my last post that Jan told me she has today put her hand on the bed table and wiggled all the fiingers and even moved the wrist a little
(I was told by the consultant that the left hand will be the biggest challenge)
Thanks for your best wishes - and I have my lists handy
Good luck with today hope everything goes smoothly. Including getting the discharge letter and meds from pharmacy.
Jan your progress has been incredible, but you know it didn't just happen. You got results through your determination and effort.
Keep up your good work and who knows your lists may have shopping lists written on the back of them soon.
There will be tears and tantrums on both sides. For you Jan it's your stroke and for Graham it's usually the pain of seeing you have to work so hard. And there's nothing he can do to take that burden away.
Find time to be yourselves, be honest with each other. Most importantly continue this amazing team work.
It's not easy but nothing in life worth achieving is easy.
Lovely to hear you're home, Jan. It is a surreal time but soon changes to the new normal without you realising it. At least that's what happened to us. Little steps but big celebrations with each one! Take care,
I have a pen friend near Chesterfield and my best mate lives in Cheshire. They have promised me some their rain. I noticed today that Manchester was wet, but arrid essex, dry and hot. I do live in a rain shadow where two rivers estuaries meet and apparently that deflects the rain clouds. Even the winter was fairly dry when floods were battering up north. Indeed even parts of essex flooded, but not here.
