Why do I keep crying?

Dear Colin,

I just wanted to check you are feeling better. Yes, covid19 is really stressing everyone, I think it is the fact that one can not get out of the house too, apart from the garden. The press doesn't do a great deal to put people's minds at rest, they just make people panic. They should focus on the positive news, people who survive this virus. Yes, they should tell people how to take precautions, but not panic them.

I think your cat will be a great source of relaxation if you stroke it. There is something about a little pet on our lap that makes us feel confort. If you can, maybe find a book to read, or a comedy to watch on youtube, a documentary that can teach you something, and so on. Can you do crosswords or something like that? Maybe a take away, with an ice cream for dessert, if you can eat ice cream, of course.

I hope I have helped in some way to make you feel better.

Hello Colin, sorry to hear you're not feeling so good with all this talk of Corona virus that seems to be on tv and radio all the time. I think if you are well within yourself ie not run down or have symptoms of a cold for example you will be ok. It's still probably wise to self isolate but this can effect your mood, it can be a long day if you are on your own. You could wrap up and have a walk around the village,if you meet someone you know you could have a conversation at a distance you'll be surprised how few people are about though so you will be safe. There are puzzles you can do online which will pass the time or how about a jigsaw they really help pass the time.

Hope you are feeling bit better today.
Ann.

Hi Colin, I felt like crying and I did on Wednesday when I came down with the virus. I'm making progress, but it is delbilitating. I agree it would be great for the press to highlight the good things. Where I live the local online forum is organising a datbase of pople offering to provide help for those stuck at home. Now that's great news! Jackie

My goodness, a stroke then the corona. Whenever will it end. I do hope and pray that you get the mild edition.

I have today been promised that the butcher will deliver. So we can go meat only for a while ! So much for my stroke diet.

I am due a fairly urgent heart operation and I dont really want to go near a hospital. I actually hope they postpone. I think I will last for a year.

Just the fear of the corona has woken up all my post stroke problems. So whatever is it doing to you ?

Colin

I have a long garden so a walk down there and back is adequate exercise. My heart condition means i have to walk slowly. I enjoy seing the snails overtake me. I have lots to do since I was isolated, and seem to be unbelievably busy. I am sowing a lot more veg seeds and clearing veg plots. I live in my cats house along with the wife, so I am not on my own.

I am noticing the stroke symptoms are returning. I think its the change of routine as much as anything.

Its mild out here in the East so I can get outside a lot.

Thanks for your thoughts Ann

Colin

Dear John

You are always there for me and the rest of the forum. You are a shining light in these troubled times.

Colin

Dear Tinkerbell

With the intense problems you have with John, yet you still have time for me.

I am so honoured to have your company.

Yes indeed, we need to shout the better news rather than forcast the worst.

So I will shout that today the butcher has said he will deliver our weekend joint etc. And I will shout that my son has suggested that he cancels his stay with us. He works in London and is so very likely to carry the virus. But I didnt want to refuse to have him here. So the stress from that has eased a lot.

I stroke and cuddle Sooty a lot. And he nuzzles and prods me for affection. I love my cat to pieces. He sits with his front paws on my lap, but he is far too big to sit on my lap. He sometimes try but he wouldnt fit on a large person lap and certainly not on me, as I am small. I think he is a small puma rather than a domestic cat.

I have a very long garden and a walk down there to the railway line then back again is good exercise. I am also slowly and steadily preparing my veg patches so that I can grow lots of food this year. Strange, but I am so busy that I dont have time for everything.

And I have purchased an i-pad so I am going to try to learn how to use it. I spnt two days working out how the keyboard converets to a cover ! And I sent hours trying to find out me Apple ID. Still dont know.

My prayers are still being sent to John (and you) despite the closure of my church

Best wishes

Colin

Exactly.

I am fighting the stress with a lot of success.

Several of the post stroke problems have risen from the ashes. But I am pushing them back from whence they came. And I still sleep well, which is such a boon. I spent years getting into a good sleep pattern so I am not letting that slip. Anyway, no cricket nor soccer to watch on TV so its early to bed each night.

I cant believe how busy I am not going outside the home. I list a couple of jobs to do each day. So that helps avoiding boredom

Colin

Hi Colin. Great news about the butcher! So sorry to hear about your other health issues. I seem to have got off lightly, thank goodness. I have found that my right side is a bit more wobbly though. Luckily the anti-seizure medicine I'm on for post-stroke seizures has kept any of these away. I'm looking forward to getting out for a walk when I'm less wobbly!

I have fond memories of learning to walk again. I had a very fast and easy physical recovery. Its the other stuff that got at me.

But walking was great. One step outside at first and what a pleasure that was. Then a few yards along the sideway which has walls or bushes to lean on. Then in to the street. Wow was that good. First it was past one house. Then next day it was two. Then five. and so on and I was walking a mile before long (half mile each way, got me to the shops). It is odd to say that I have fond memories of those terrible days, but I do ! Why I could walk so soon I dont know. It seemed a miracle to me. No one else in the hospital was walking, just me. So please believe your turn will come. In the meantime keep every muscle and every joint moving a little bit every day. You will get there one day.

May I ask what Brambles are ? Our little green grocery shop is Brambles and I must ask them why. Its a cute shop, quite the tiniest you could imagine.

Keep safe

Colin

It’s just fantastic, give you good health. I’ve been struggling with lameness and knee pain after a stroke for 9 months, but they don’t go away, the doctor said that it takes time and I struggle with the time and remnants of a stroke on the COVID-19 background. Im from Georgia, Tbilisi. Nice day!
