#UKSF24 3rd to 5th Dec 2024

Hi gang

It’s UK stroke forum next week. An event that regularly sees a snowstorm of tweets saying “we need the voice of lived experience to be more prominent”

Many of those will be hashtagged #uksf24

I urge you to read X for a week.
Those of you who still have an account please contribute to those tweet-threads.

It would be great if you identified yourself as either a forum member or a Stroke Improvement Group supporter View the SIG charter

Those of you who don’t normally use X but see something that you think would be of interest to the rest of us: Click the share button on X, copy the link, come here add a post to this thread with the link pasted in and the rest of us can then go and view it too

There are often components of the discussion that are relevant to our recoveries and our experiences and assist in us giving each other support and or can benefit from our input has peer supporters

Program is here

I closed my account a few years ago when it was ‘Twitter’ and have no intentions of opening another so am interested in how @SimonInEdinburgh will respond.

Hi Ann

The UK stroke forum is an in-person event running for 3 days in Liverpool next week

The information about it is on multiple websites.

The primary one being the one behind all of the links above

The reference to x is that the bulk of professionals who engage in forms of self-promotion via social media Do that through a limited number of platforms of which X is one that has a rather shotgun scatter character and is low friction to reply to

LinkedIn is also a social media platform that is useful for responding to people
Eg Mitchell Westra on LinkedIn: #uksf24

X is a horrible place to spend time in for a social purposes but for being able to link to people who just might respond it has some merit

Yes I think most socially responsible people either quit it or stop using it especially when Elon musk took over and all of the efforts to keep it clean went by the board

The point about reading the tweets over the next week is that “lived experience experts (stroke survivors) are prohibited from attending” So we’re not going to be finding out first hand about what’s happening there - But we can identify those who are and maybe gain some awareness for sig

I was amused to see that I was a participant in at least two of the source projects (possibly three or more) that are presenting results  and there are several sessions that are targeted at topics that I am actively engaged in

I will be doing what I can to harvest useful contacts from the goings on
