Can’t say I’ve ever tried plain porridge, but maybe I should
Lorraine, I do hope you’re having your porridge traditional (Scottish) 1 : 2 porridge oats to water and stirred in a pan to make it creamy. And it does keep you going and it helps manage cholesterol.
Ann, @Mrs5K I have now upped my apple intake to 2 a day though sometimes it’s hard if they are big. Red apples are supposed to be the best, but I can’t source them locally, at least not regularly and so it’s any variety - they’re all good for you. Sometimes I do substitute pears for apples.
Jim @caer_luel , your bowels are almost certainly less efficient. This is likely down to not enough of the right sort of physical activity. It can be awful when you have to go to stimulants to help you, but when you’re been hit by a stroke …
I have numerous apple & pear trees in the garden so later in the year I will be able to eat as many as I can manage. My preference is for red apples too.
I no longer need any laxatives to keep things moving, but I forgot to say when I stopped taking paracetamol in hospital everything improved , ifvI take them now everything slows down for half a day or so,
The colon cleanse tablets are from Jennah Organics. They are not cheap but they do work and fairly quickly. 60 in a bottle. My niece just takes one when she feels bunged up so my husband is doing the same.
@Trisha2 - they worked a treat but like you, I think we’ll keep them for ‘special’ occasions and not use them every day. Thanks for the recommendation.
