Life can be gruelling. We are sapiens, trying to fit into sapient society. If we can just mange to tickle a cat”s underbelly or a dog, perhaps there is a future for all of us. ![]()
Please try and tickle the tummy of someone you love before it is all too late. Tickle your own tummy if needs be. I am not a prophet, just someone who thinks tickling tummies is beneficial. ![]()
Of course! I live with two dogs…tummy tickling daily, like brushing yr teeth, they won’t let me forget.
I do so agree about the therapeutic benefits of tickling receptive tummies. We decided we were too old for any more pets - didn’t want to leave one behind to an uncertain future - and I do miss having a fur person around.
- Animal magnetism or energy healing beliefs – In some folk traditions, animals (including cats) are thought to sense imbalances in human energy fields (sometimes called prana in India or qi in China). Cats, in particular, are sometimes seen as sensitive to subtle energies.
- Purring and healing – In recent alternative medicine circles, it’s noted that a cat’s purr (typically 20–140 Hz) may have therapeutic effects on bones, muscles, and stress. Some people believe sitting with a cat can lower blood pressure and anxiety.
@Rups , that cat looks so chilled out.
Aye, and then vet bills undo all that feline mental nourishment ![]()

It is essentially stimulating the belly brain and I suspect it satisfies our mirror neurons in some way.
brilliant - life reaches out to life
That is sensible and shows forward thinking compassion for our domesticated friends.
As she’s still a kitten, she goes from chilled to manic but that’s the joy of it. Good company.
Interesting that you can tickle others but you can’t tickle yourself.
It is interesting from a point of view as a cerebellar stroke survivor, the cerebellum is the core responsible reason why one can’t tickle oneself. Now, if part of the damage I had to mine corrupted that response, I may have survived stroke to find I could have kept myself in blissful fits of laughter, everyday, by simply tickling myself.
Thanks to my stroke, I can tickle myself, since I feel my hand no more than I can feel another person’s.
@Rups , I get you. My neighbours a few doors down on my street got a few kittens recently. Trouble was, they would sometimes run into the house. One even curled up in front of the electric fire. Had to coax it out in the end with some fish I cooked.
@Rups , on average, how much are your vet bills?
You could always try fostering a pet ![]()

Dim byd at the moment, meaning nothing, as I have only recently got her but I am to understand I have a few hundred quid worth looming as she needs to be spayed and vaccinated. Some charities can help with this burden but unfortunately none cover my area.

@Rups , well they did that day. I wouldn’t mind, I was going to have that fish (grilled) with parsley sauce and new potatoes. Ended up cooking a pasta bake instead.
