The Healing Power of Pets🐾

Reckon so. Cats are great healers, I used to have one who always knew which chakra to go to and when I was giving someone Shiatsu, would join in with Katsu…I now know that is a type of curry!

Can be very fussy too. Biggest diva I know.

Oh I love cats and they are supposeed to be soothing and healing, unless like this naughty girl they decide to stay out late and rule the house with a paw of iron, she was abandoned where we used to live when her owner died and the family kicked her out, al always happens she found her way to us and moved with us six years ago, we’ve always had multiple cats but just have her now, it worries me if we both were to die and leave her orphaned again but she is registered with CP Pet Guardians should the worst happen. We don’t know how old she is but are guessing senior, her name is… Pussy Whiteface

Pussy Whiteface has a forename and surname, I like that. Cats are healing in their way, I wake up like this most mornings. Annie curled up under my armpit, it is a very calm and soothing way to approach the day.

She has, it started because there were two similar cats in our garden one with a white face and one with a more tabby face (who had a home) if we’d known she was moving in she might have had a more traditional name, though she favours Magnificat herself. I’d love to wake up with her like you do Annie but she’s more likely to bite than snuggle, though she is loving in her own way and has a huge vocabulary.

Completely agree, best way to wake up in the morning is to a cat to an unknown day :heart_hands::smiling_cat_with_heart_eyes:

Unless, you wake up and look behind the bed head and get this …

I’m more than happy with any cat in my bedroom :joy_cat::smiling_face_with_three_hearts::heart_eyes::heart_eyes::heart_eyes: I used to have pet rats they were such lovely companions too, really cuddly would sit my shoulder, have my bedroom to themselves a bowl of peas every night sadly they didn’t live long enough that’s why I chose cats after as my next companions:smiling_cat_with_heart_eyes:

I used to have a pet rat called Sippy, in my student days, very young onesesque. Sippy looked like your little white one with the reddish eyes. They are fun, little companions.

I have to add that Sippy used to sit on my shoulder and nibble my ear.

Same here, they would sit on my lap on the bed with me or I had to walk round the house with them on my shoulder which encouraged me to get up and move  I don’t know why everyone thinks rats are so awful when I told people I was getting rats they thought I was crazy:rofl: glad you understand that they make nice pets:rat::heart_hands:

Rats are terrific, I have no beef with rats, the only animal I have a beef with is cows.

This is my little fluff ball Bonnie She has been the perfect therapy for helping my left side improve. She loves a cuddle and has become very protective of me after my stroke. She follows me everywhere and on those bad days she is literally a shoulder to cry on. I love her dearly and I think both dogs and cats have great perception of what we humans need in difficult times. Thanks everyone for sharing your stories and photos :two_hearts:

A bonny Bonnie to be sure, is she a yapper? She looks like she wants to say something in that first photo.

Our pet does not want to heal me, it wants to kill me! The cat from hell wakes me up at 3.00 am with screaming and screeching, goes out, comes in, goes out again, comes back in, and is trying it’s hardest to get under my feet so that I trip and fall down the stairs.

I like cats, but ours does not like me.

Sounds like my Watson…..he barks for no f…,.. reason at any hour he feels like and then sits and looks at me with a defiant look….i assume it’s cos he has a “personality” rather than he hates me (LOL)….he looks at me as if he loves me before feed time x

She’s really a very well behaved Pom. Only tends to bark at the Postie and the doorbell. We take her everywhere and she’s great. An old girl at 12 1/2 but still has the lion heart of a six year old !

For some reason I can’t currently find any pictures of our current dog, a black ex-racing Greyhound and a rescue case I’m afraid. So these are Angel’s two predecessors both now very sadly gone.
But I can’t imagine not having a dog although now with my stroke induced sight issues I can only cope with one. But Angel played a major role in my recovery. Initially I lost so much confidence I really didn’t want to leave the house, but soon realised I would have to! So I started going out and following Val (my wife) while she walked ahead with Angel. I’ve lost all my right hand peripheral vision (and in fact any awareness that there is a world to my right, but that’s harder to explain) so I’m better at following someone than walking beside them. Then I graduated to walking Angel while Val followed me and now I walk Angel every day on my own. I would say I’ve got 90% of my confidence back and that’s SUCH a good thing. I still walk into stuff from time to time but what used to drive me to despair I can now laugh about!

At the very real risk of boring you all even more I found a picture of Angel! Not the best one and I’m sure I must have others but despite her rather sad history she is such a sweet girl and we love her dearly.

You can see those racing muscles; it’s good that Angel has a lovely and caring home in which to retire.
