Hello- I’m a newcomer to this forum so am learning my way…I did send an e.mail the other day saying I had a TIA end of January, thank you for the the people who responded to me. Regarding my swollen feet and red heels did any of you have Lerconidipine given to you for high blood pressure, think these have given me my problems, my Dr.has now changed my Blood Pressure tablets to Losartan but the side effects seem worse, lot of them, have any of you had these and how did you get on with them or would you keep on with the lercanidipine, Denise1
Hello Denise - I am afraid I don’t have any first hand experience of these meds as I am here as a carer rather than a survivor. That said, my Mum has experienced any number of problems whenever she has been prescribed medications after she had her stroke. And in fact before the stroke she pretty much avoided medicines relying on herbal and ancient traditional family handed down remedies.
What we learned about medicines is that they might help short term, but should be avoided as far as reasonably possible in the long term. In either case, always watch out for side effects and get them checked / addressed asap.
I would suggest you get yourself back to the GP either directly via the surgery or refer yourself via the NHS 111 service.
Don’t wait for others to respond on here. It’s not necessarily if others experienced this - you are experiencing it and so you need to be checked out. Since we all will likely react differently to medicines we have to find what works for us. Some on her might be perfectly happy with the Losartan tablets that you are on, others may not, but clearly your body is not tolerating these tablets and so you should go back and get the doctor to help you.
Take care and wishing you well.
I too have swollen legs/feet and am not on the drugs you mention, though am on meds for heart and blood pressure. I think it goes with the territory, so sorry, no useful advice. None of the received wisdom about putting feet up seems to work, and I already use soft-top socks and shoes too big for me. My normal foot size is 6 but I m having to wear 8s. Sorry no more help but you at least know it isn’t just you.
