Support for my return to work not a stroke victim

Hi I wondered if anyone has any useful tips / employment information for my own rerun to work
My husband has now returned to work he is being very very well supported with a good structured plan made by OH and HR
It’s a new phase of recovery and I have to deal with the fatigue that he has when he is at home  of which I’m ok with

However I feel I’ve been holding it all in and now I’m to return to work (after 6m off) I find my anxiety has shot through the roof. So much so that my OH said I wasn’t fit to work but made things so much better by stating I need a 4 week phased return which previously my boss said I didn’t need as I hadn’t been ill!!! this really did increase my anxiety… I have good support from my employer but there is this underlying non supportive boss.
So I was just looking for advice if what I’m actually entitled to looking after my husband when he is home and attending appointments with him as well as managing my own stress and anxiety Thansks lots

@Sjill good to hear that you’ve had a phased return recommended. The last 6 m9nths looking after your husband will have been as hard for you as for him just in a different way. Anxiety & stress are medical conditions & therefore it would be reasonable to have some adjustments made on your return.

I’m not sure what your work policies are but we do have a carers policy which allows time off for ceetain things…not necessarily paid time off though.

Could you perhaps work your hours flexibly? So, if you had to go to an appointment with your husband you could make your hours back so it didn’t affect your pay.

I would advise contacting ACAS so you know your entitlements before you “tackle” your employer.

Best of luck with your return.
