Any one on rosuvastatin and is very achy?
Weve changed statins as I think this has caused my partner to be like this.

I don’t take those ones but statins are well known for causing aches. I would ask GP to swap them again. There are statin alternatives out there too…….something like ezitembe. Not 100% sure of their name.
Aww ok.
We was on that one. So was wondering if anyone else experienced the same
But yesterday my parner got changed to atorvastatin.
Try your pharmacist as they will be better informed then gp’s on side effects.
I take atorvastatin and have had no effects. Fingers crossed they work for your partner.
Thank you so much
Hopefully hes ok on them too x
My partners been taken off statins as hes keep having side effects.
Hes not on another tablet for cholesterol
Hes now on a different medication I mean
If they’re not doing him any good he will be better off not taking them. You can manage cholestetol levels a bit with diet ao id his cholesterol levels are raised then that may be worth a try. Not everyone though has raised levels. Statins seem to be a standard prescription after stroke whether levels are raised or not.
Thank you. We did say to the doctor and he recommended these.
Its hard to.do with his diet as hes not eating much or don’t fancy it as hardly any taste x
Please forgive me @Clairekirby1990 if I am speaking out of turn here and my apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere in your story, but I would like to offer my view on this.
Sometimes, coming off medication is not necessarily a bad thing and certainly if the medication is causing more problems than help then ditch it. Statins are a kind of “marmite” medication and I am not sure if the medical profession is about to change its thinking on the use of the statins.
High cholesterol has been treated (medically) with statins, but there are some recent studies that suggest high cholesterol is not necessarily a bad thing. This is a difficult subject to address in a post like this and you might be better to do your own research on this.
It’s just my opinion. I have high cholesterol and don’t take statins - I tried them once and they made a small difference but not enough for me to carry on taking them. That was over 20 years ago. I have lived with high cholesterol ever since and not wishing to tempt fate have had no issues related to high cholesterol.
It’s a choice - my doctor does not insist I must take it. I have been told, it’s my choice and nothing they have said suggests to me I would benefit from taking it.
Getting back to your husband.
Was he on statins before he had the stroke?
What was the reason given for him having a stroke?
What do the doctors think will happen if he does not take statins?
Don’t forget - no medicaiton can prevent a stroke. This is a fact. On this forum many “healthy” and active people with no stroke indicators have had strokes! Medications may reduce the risk, but they cannot prevent strokes.
You have to weigh the pros and cons of your husbands condition and treatment and act accordingly. Don’t take or continue to take medications if the risks outweigh the benefits.
