There have been several references to the words of Douglas Adams on this forum and a while back, mabye 20 years or so ago, in his leaving e-mail, a work colleague signed off with “So Long and Thanks for All the Fish”
To-date I have still not read this books and today I believe it is 25 years since Douglas Adams died. I have now reserved the book and will read it, though I am not sure if I will regret it as a) I believe this is book #4 in a series and b) the writing style bends surreal absurdity, deadpan British wit, and philosophical satire, all of which might just go over my head.
The books are great, though So Long and Thanks for all the Fish isn’t the best and might be a bit baffling if you haven’t read the earlier ones. I’d recommend listening to the BBC radio series. I still remember the joy I felt on hearing the first episode aged 15, it was like nothing else at the time. You can get it on Audible and other platforms and I’ve found the first series on Soundcloud where you can listen for free.
This tune is fantastic.
I must admit I don’t remember hearing it before and would not have recognised it.
I have a feeling YouTube might start recommending it to me
