The idea of getting another view before a big operation seems obviously sensible, and yet almost everyone I ask says they did not bother. The practical obstacles are not clinical - it is getting the imaging to someone else, finding the right person, and paying for it. Has anyone actually done this, and was it worth the effort?

I know of people who’ve gone private for the diagnoses and then referred back to the NHS for treatment. That is becoming a more common practice, if you can afford it.
