A local counsellor called James Bundy whose father died in a&e on a trolley because he did not match the fast acronym and so was not treated with appropriate urgency has asked me to share the link to his new petition seeking to raise awareness of the limitations of fast in order that BE FAST is better promoted.
Yes it definitely would have helped me the morning I woke up and couldn’t see very much, didn’t realise it was a stroke because I didn’t know vision was a symptom . I could have been seen hours earlier and had surgery to bring my sight back potentially. Thanks for sharing
Yes if I too had known about the unreliability of fast or and my GP had understood the early warning signs of stroke they would have realised I had a multiple before I was hospitalised (only found that when I had research MRIs)
My medication regime and health decisions would have been much different and I probably wouldn’t be on this forum at all
I’m very sorry that you did not seek / receive gold standard care.
My message for a long time has been fast was groundbreaking advancement rather like the wheel. However we’ve now moved on through the horse & cart to the Tesla but FAST remains with the oats and manure.
I think BE FAST is also limited.
It doesn’t address anything in terms of understanding that migraine auras, unexplained tingling and many other neurologically caused phenomena are events with a potential to be permanent
The more we do to raise awareness including with organisations who use the labels “leading charity” The more we can reduce the incidence of stroke.
