New member and vision

@GAV2025
You are now going in the right direction. I need Specsavers to help me. I went for a contatc lens check, but that was looking at a balloon with one eye followed by next and I inquired what does this do and I ws told gives the Optician a guide as to your prescription. I was not impressed. Specsavers was not my choice but convenient to my work life. I need to source somewhere better. Good luck with your onward journey regarding your eyes :four_leaf_clover:

Good morning,
@IreneFC the hotair baloon machine it’s pretty standard, all opticians use it.
I have received the diagnosis from the ophthalmologist and it is homonymus quadrantoanopia incompatible with driving as I have too many missing dots too central to my vision. Time will tell if ever I will regain what was lost.
Has anyone ever heard of or used the technology from visionforlifeworks.com, a company in Illinois, US?! They send all these gadgets for you to do exercises at home?! And they show great results for all sorts of visual field losses, mind you I can’t find patients reviews.
Anyways, I need to work on my gratefulness as things could have been a lot worse.
Thanks for listening,
Have a bright day everyone even if raining outside!

I have never heard of what is wrong with your eyes but I will google to educate myself. I would try any exercises if it would help my vision. Good luck :four_leaf_clover: :four_leaf_clover: :four_leaf_clover:

Wow! What a tremendous reply Lorraine! There’s so much info there and every single bit of it is like gold, thanks for taking the time to put all of this useful info on here - it helps us all! Take care, Bert

Thanks Bert🙂 I just try to pack as much information into my replies as I can. I just like to keep in mind those who are not yet able to correspond or communicate but can at least read a little at a time.

Information and explanations can be hard to get when you’re none communicative, as I was when I first had my stroke. Its a very lonely, isolating condition to be in. Scary too! I’d glean little tidbits here and there, but much of it was never enough, it wouldn’t go indepth enough for me.

So when I’d fined a useful post, I’d just keep it up on my computer screen until I’d read it all, no matter how long it took days sometimes.

The simplest online search can feel like a lifetime to do, its a monumental task for some survivors. So I like to make it worth all the effort they put in :slightly_smiling_face: But I can only hope it works for them and gives them hope for their future.

Hi GAV2025, I’m also new and a stroke survivor of 2yrs 8 mths and I’m 74.
Firstly with no disrespect you had a stroke consultant, I had a stroke on the Tuesday and Friday at the stroke clinic was seen by a junior doctor and discharge to the care if my GP.
I was left with an eye problem and it was when I went for an eye test they referred me immediately to the hospital eye clinic. Both my cataracts were done followed by an operation on my eye, stroke numbness side.
I do hope you manage to see someone soon about your eyes, keep us posted and take one day at a time, it works for me,
Take care Ann x
