Nice colour. I live near Brighton so somewhat used to Mods and Rockers. These days I find the car safer and of course warmer. Bob3

well done! My dad always had scooters, Lambrettas they were - he loved them! Here’s to some great experiences and adventures on it!

Love it! And that is so you :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

How is your sense of balance on it, or are you going to tell me it’s a 3 wheeler :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I rode it in a car park briefly before parking it. After stroke, I could only shuffle when I walked and had to use a cane but, oddly, I was able to ride a bicycle. However, mopeds are heavier and I will be riding on the road as opposed to one side of it and having to navigate traffic directly which will be an enormous challenge that I am both thrilled and nervous about. I will do my training once the weather settles a little, I don’t want to risk riding on icy roads just yet. My CBT trainer will come to me and I can ride my own moped around my own town which is where I will be primarily riding it. Once training has finished, I am on my tod. :motor_scooter:

I remember being all excited and nervous as heck getting back into driving. And it took a few months to let go of my hubby and drive solo. Even now, 3yrs on, there are odd days when I’m still apprehensive about driving for no apparent reason

I wish all the luck for this new and exciting adventure and look forward to hearing all about your escapades :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

@Rups Wow this is fantastic, I am so excited to hear about follow ups of your adventures, to be a mod own a wee vespa is a secret dream of mine so good luck!! You got this, I can drive an automatic car with a ball handle on the steering wheel but use my right hand to control automatic controls as my effected side left cant always do it. I cant even use breaks on a bike on my effected side left to brake only can control mountain bike with good hand which you can imagine has caused issues downhill, how will you manage both sides top the scooter did you get your movement back in your effected arm (hand)? Also I loving the kitten seems a fantastic idea on your mental health, thinking I need something similar. Best of luck on your New Years Adventures

My post stroke issues are complex and centre around cognitive visual-spatial synchronicity, and proprioceptive matters. I can work around a visual space once I know it, unless fatigued or visually overstimulated. I know, I know, madness that I would attempt to steer my way through traffic on a moped, however, the brain is a funny thing, and if stationary and moving I seem to be okay. Maybe this has come from playing video games from the outset after stroke. Maybe this might be from procedural memory as I have always ridden a bicycle, even when I owned a car, I preferred to ride my bike and when working, rode it to work as opposed to battling traffic head on.

I feel at this juncture in my life, I would like to embrace what I fantasised about but never tried. What I am most looking forward to is joining up with the scooter collective and having a social outing as I, predominately, spend my time alone and as much as I suffer my own company without duress, it does benefit to check in with other human beings every now and again to see how the race is unfolding from a personal perspective.

My kitten has brought unimaginable joy, I love my dog when she stays for three days but there is something about a cat that is immediately becalming, as if they say “You’re alright Jack”, when they look at you. However, having been, previously, a pig farmer of sorts, I appreciate Sir Winston’s remark, “Dogs look up to you, cats look down on you. Give me a pig! He looks you in the eye and treats you as an equal.” And I found this to be very apt.
