we have two cats now, or two cats have adopted us..
I thought I was allergic, I used to have asthma reactions to cats and dogs, so we avoided getting a furry pet for a long time, but while ago my wife suggested we try it, so we acquired one from Cats Protection. a skittish little tortoise shell we named Ochre. I had no allergic reaction to my surprise and joy. then a year ago or so my wife was offered another one that had been left outside the vet's in a cardboard box. we thought why not, and brought him in. he's a black cat, now named Onyx. the two cats after some weeks of dramatic hissing and squabbling eventually made friends and get on famously now. Onyx is by far the friendlier and loves his cuddles. Ochre is very choosy about who she will allow near her. both have given us a great deal of joy and they just make me laugh. they are an amazing antidote to the daily struggles of stroke survival. and really have brought much joy and laughter into the household, after a lot of struggle. they mostly look after themselves, and steal each other's food. the little tortoiseshell is by far the best hunter and supplements her diet with the odd mouse and bird. Onyx has occasionally caught things but doesn't seem to know what to do with his catch_ he can't get the wrapper off! we used to get mice in the house occasionally, but no more!
if I can figure out how to do it I'll post a pic of my lovelies sometime. its been nice to hear your cat stories and very nice to post a happy report, on a different kind of stroke :)
Nice post Tony. I have wondered about a second cat, and had decided against as one cat is plenty of work, but maybe a second will decide they want to be adopted. I too had allergic reactions to cats and dogs, mainly due to my son who is seriously allergic and we had to keep all animals out the house and clean the house endlessly. But no reaction to our own cat. Perhaps its mind over matter.
To post a picture first complete your written posting, then click on the camera. It will ask you to browse so thats what you do. Then "open" the snap of your choice. So its a good idea to have the desired snap handy. I put mine on the desktop. My scanned document didnt do very well at all. And it inverted itself. And it was very unclear. I have quite a decent Epson colour scanner so no doubt there are better things, like savuing it as a pdf, but I dont know enough.
You gotta be careful with cats Colin. I advised a stroke victim on another forum to seek help from a hypnotist to overcome a problem. He got interested in the subject and experimented hypnotic suggestion on his cat, but now thinks she has reversed the process and is making him giver her extra treats. I warned him to take care in case he ends
up lying on his back expecting the cat to rub his tummy.
I spoil my cat something rotten. And I work on the basis that it is the Cats bungalow and he lets us stay with him. Rosenmry is not in accord with this.
