Movement

I had my Stroke in December (30th), it came as a big shock.
I was able too return home 20th of January 2026; here’s where the journey began. Letgergy was a killer for me, and still is at times. Speaking to my GP was amazing and he sorted out the medication. I have letgergy still, however my mind feels calmer so helps me manage the anxiety.
I always felt left of center since my Stroke, however I am getting moments of clarity for which I am eternally grateful for.

Next hurdle for me is meeting up with friends. This makes me feel sick to the core. I know my feelings are irrational, but that just how it is right now. I must listen to what my mind is saying and tentatively do the direct opposite, otherwise I will feel stuck. My first hospital visit isn’t untill June, so that’s feels like I lifetime since my Stroke.
Movement is starting an I am greatfull, thanks to everyone who has shown support and took the time to share their experience and wisdom. Xx

@Ste1 it’s good to hear you are getting some valuable support from your GP & that you are managing your anxiety better.

Perhaps try a very short meeting with one friend initially to see how you get on. Maybe they could visit you. From my experience taking that first step is the hardest & afterwards you often wonder why it made you so anxious. I found my friends very supportive & understanding & I am sure yours will be too.

Good luck.

Hi @Ste1 , to me it sounds you are on the right road to recovery . Time is a healer and from experience learned to let it tell me when I’m ready now . I pushed too hard too fast and fell down badly but still getting thee I did struggle in crowds with aural overload which exhausted me : this past week I attended first gig and made it through went to see Kneecap which was an experience indeed. Take your time and I’m sure you will get there with support- friends will hopefully compensate mine have as well as my amazing partner and now find can manage most situations - good health and well wishes on your recovery.

What is it about the thought of meeting friends that makes you feel sick?
Is it meeting friends or anyone?
I don’t think I have heard this before or maybe Ihave and just forgotten ?
