I had a right thalamic stroke January 2025 and a left thalamic stroke March 2025. My signs are a constant feeling of coldness, pressure, numbness and hypersensitivity to sharp pain of body, limbs and face including inside mouth. I also have had mood disorders of anxiety and depression. Since I have not had these before the stroke my neurologist said this could be due to the thalamic influence on the hypothalamus ( a mood area). I also have had extreme fatigue, nausea and belching partly from my blood pressure medications, lipid lowering medication as well I am told from my thalamic stroke affecting my stomach function. I have tried 8 different anti-depressants for anxiety/ depression and could not tolerate any. My sensory symptoms have very slowly been improving over time but are still quite intolerable. On another stroke website a person said they got relief from medical marijuana. It is legal in Florida for anxiety, depression, nausea and pain under a doctor’s approval. Since I had all of these signs I qualified. My regular doctor was all for it and sent me to a doctor certified in medical marijuana. I am now on a 1:1 ratio of a THC and CBD tincture. I take one drop (2.5 mg of each) under the tongue twice daily. It took 2 weeks to become effective but it has given me my quality of life back without any adverse side effects. My nausea and energy level is much improved and I tolerate my sensory abnormalities much better. Everybody’s situation is little different but I just wanted to share this as it’s made such a huge difference in my life. If medical marijuana is legal and available where you live and you have similar problems as me it might be worth discussing this with your doctor.

Hi Cheryl–so glad you found some help. I had problems of muscle seizures after my stroke, and CBD stopped them. When they hit I used 20 mg CBD drops under my tongue or CBD gummies. If they didn’t stop after 45 minutes, I took another 20 mg. That always did the trick. By the way I checked with my regulae doctor and cardiologist and both said “go for it.” and that a lot of their patients used CBD, but couldn’t yet prescribe it.
