Hi Everyone, I am considering signing up for one of Linda and Arjan’s 7 day stroke rehab programmes here in the UK and was wondering if anyone here has any experience of their residential programme? I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has.
I completed the course at brain.rehab … took me quite a while, but in my opinion there is nothing at that level in the UK that I have come across. I have also read Linda’s book, which helped at the time.
I enquired about one of their 2 week courses in Cyprus, but couldn’t afford it ! Let us know the details of this course, good luck
I’ve been aware of them for a long time but haven’t used any of their services.
I can’t see anything about the prices for Wales (and I was mildly amused that it spelt with an h on their web page )
I’d certainly like to hear how you got on if you proceeded.
I’d also like a referral to Queen Square and the clinic run by Nick Ward - that’s 3 weeks of 40 hours a week with a revisit I think after a month and 6 months. I did organise a zoom between a few graduates of it (could try a repeat) QnSq has a curriculum devised per individually (that I have posted an example here) - it’s described as very useful (& tough)
I do wonder about the credibility of a week. I don’t think I could absorb the exercise regime in that time. Having absorbed it I think it would be showing signs of my needs migrating from it within 4 to 6 So I’d have to be shown a regime and it’s development I think that comes to the coach’s expertise that I’m not going to gain the week.
I’d love to be proved wrong. A purpose filled week with like-minded individuals under some knowledgeable guidance must be beneficial.
It’s the source of thing I think the SIG should be developing a online version of and possibly even in future face-to-face!
Hi Simon, I got my GP to refer me to the Upper Limb Clinic at Queens Square, unfortunately they wouldn’t accept me as they said I didn’t have the right range of movement in my arm/hand.
I tried a second time a year or so later but still without sucess.
I attend the FES Clinic at Queens Square and volunteered to take part in a research programme which was linked to the Upper Limb Clinic.
I had a little chat with Arjan, last night, on Zoom. We talked about the course, what lies ahead for my recovery ; the next level, so to speak. Linda was also there, waving in the background, while working on her next book. Well, I was very flattered when Arjan said that I had gone through a very inspirational story, similar to Linda’s. He also acknowledged that I had accumulated a mass of knowledge and experience, yet I have no doubt they would bring fresh ideas to the table.
I will report any updates about the course, meantime I’m out for walkies this morning as long as it doesn’t rain! Ciao, Roland
Hi
Also booked a call with them next week and curious to hear more. I suspect it will still be very pricey. Just wondering if there are funding opportunities out there.
Blessings
