I have just posted a new YouTube video called “Larry Will Crack” and I wanted to share it with you because it touches on something many of us with central post-stroke pain understand deeply, the relentless, predictable rhythms of nerve pain that seem to have a life of their own. In this video, I share my journey with a stubborn nerve I call Larry, a dorsomedial cutaneous nerve in my foot that has stung every 3 days for 3 years. I explore how I have used a blend of castor oil, coconut oil, sandalwood oil, and earthing to interrupt the cycle and teach my brain to update its body schema, the internal map that learned to anticipate the pain. It is a story of neuroplasticity, central sensitization, and the quiet, patient work of rewiring after stroke. I hope it offers something useful, whether insight, validation, or simply the knowledge that we are not alone in this fight. The link is below. Thank you for the support and community that has been such a vital part of my healing.
Nice name for the pain, Larry, from The Big Lebowski. Great Cohen Brothers film. If I had a persistent sting, I would call it Gordon, after Gordon Summers, but yours is better because of the analogy behind the name. I too used one of those electric foot massagers, stopped using it about two years ago. Interesting post Roland about centralised pain and how to approach reeducating the brain to visit Iceland again. Glad you’ve made a breakthrough as I imagine that three day cycle would have been a thorn in your side. Larry’s back. For what duration did you apply this principle?
3x in all ; each time was a game changer ; from now on every Larry day will be tackled like this ; it felt like a holiday without the hot-chili / pepper sting every step and left me thinking there is nothing left to fear on the Larry front ; his days are counted. (remember the body schema must be updated, verified and retested.)
