So during the winter months the dystonic muscle spasm that I experience in my left hand can become somewhat painful, but my hand just feels constantly cold due to lack of circulation/muscle spasms. The same for my effected foot and ankle due to circulation issues and spasms that restrict normal flowing movement. What does everyone do to help aid these issues? I wear gloves in winter months but this doesn’t help sat in the house?
Isometric exercises !
I have permanently cold feet. I usually double up my socks & where fluffy slippers and when really cold also put a blanket over them. I have some fingerless gloves i wear to keep my hands warm when I am working (at a computer). They are ones like you can get for arthritis. I find they help stop the pain I get from the cold.
Not sure if any of that helps.
@pando Thanks just been googling some examples, going to give some a try ![]()
@Mrs5K The fingerless gloves sound like a good idea thanks going to look online for something.![]()
We have gloves and socks from the Raynaud association, there’s silver woven in and they are apparently very effective for helping to stay warm. My husband wears all day on affected hand.
Also budget option primark sells hand warmers that only have a thumb hole, so much easier to put on a hand that doesn’t work than full gloves - highly recommend for anyone dealing with paralysed hand/arm. My husband wears both under a black wrist splint and it works well.
Thanks for the links. I am going to look into those gloves for my hubby who has reynaulds.
I also found these, probably better option if you need to use fingers (hope the link works, seems very long).
