I’m frightened for both of us

My mother had a stroke in frontal lobe of her brain. That’s all I know. They said the rest of her brain was unaffected.

I didn’t know what executive functions meant until my mother had a stroke. And, believe you me, she lost these skills to an extreme. The apathy, too – just unbelievably bad.

You would have understood my mother’s problems, as you have been living them for quite some time. She was not impulsive, like you; in fact, she was terribly cautious - the exact opposite. She was scared of her own shadow, but yet terribly apathetic. And then the pacing at night; the OCD over temperature, incessant trips to the bathroom for no reason; the bickering with my father; her wanting him with her at every minute of the day; her abilities to do many things but refusing to do so…

Anyways, please take good care of yourself.

Peace.
