How is everyone getting on

Life after stroke is so difficult, it’s not only difficult for me but my family too. They have now become my caregivers, never wanted that for my grown adult kids ok, I’m glad they don’t make me feel a burden but doesn’t stop my feelings of being a burden you know what I mean?

Does anyone struggle with keeping motivated…

Any tips on fatigue and tiredness.

Love to hear and read of your experiences in any capacity

We all know stroke robs us of ability we once took for granted. Coming to terms with that is your first major hurdle. It is good to get it out and say it as it is.

It is dreadful to discover you are not what you once were but you are still who you are and you will soon find there are ways to deal with the results of stroke.

You will get back at least some of what you were capable of and you will begin to find the world is still a place where you can have some fun, be a part of things and be useful.

It is up to you to make an effort and set out to discover this changed world. At times it will get the better of you. Rest and gain energy, then start to again to take it all head on.

You can progress and will surprise yourself. Be happy with small gains but aim high.

Be kind to those around supporting you and be kind to yourself.
You are worth it.

Keep on keepin’ on

(search for Bobbi, if you want to know more about me. I’ve done a lot of writing here on this forum. It is good to share and this is a good place to do that. I’m beginning my fourth year since this happened. It ain’t over yet and neither am I.)

I feel that burden thing frequently despite people telling me I’m not…although I do try & keep the feeling at bay a lot more now.

Fatigue is about management. Pace, prioritise & plan. Try not to overdo it on a good day as that will impact you at other times. Find a level that works for you and stick with it. In time you’ll be able to increase that level more.

I have days where keeping motivated is difficult but in the main I don’t have that issue. I tellyself that I survived my stroke & the rest is a bonus. That gets me out of bed in a morning & spurs me on too. also, the oy chance I have of getting life back anywhere near where I want it to be is to stay motivated & keep trying. Sounds easy when written down doesn’t it. It is anything but.

Try not to be hard on yourself. You’ve been through / are going through a lot. If you have a bad day start again the next day.

Best wishes
