Hello, my husband and I are 40 days into our new life following his stroke. He is currently in our local hospital on the south coast, but I’ve been told they may move him to a rehabilitation centre in London. Whilst I will be able to get there a few times a week, I know this will be really hard as at the moment I can visit a few times a day.
My husband has found he is unable to remember how to work his Ipad or any device like this, which is very frustrating to him, as he is a Software Developer and his job is to create mobile apps! - The rest of his memory is really good and his speech is getting better.
I wanted to reach out to see if anyone had found any app or device that is easy to use. It would just be nice to be able to chat or message everyday when I cannot visit.
@HeatherT hopefully a move to rehab for your husband will be a positive step forward in his recovery journey. Although it won’t be easy for you not seeing him as frequently it will give you an opportunity to have a rest & recharge your batteries.
I don’t know of any apps etc but I would like to think that someone in the rehab facility will help your husband connect to a call from you on his ipad. You could also ask them if they will make it one of his goals so they work on it with him. Could you try voice activation on the ipad? I don’t know how but a lot of things can be voice activated these days.
