@EmeraldEyes thank you, we’re not great mixers really, joining a group for activities is my idea of hell. Strange about the stroke arm was that arm initially affected by the stroke? As you know I have no physical effects from mine but I have noticed my hand clutched at my waist once or twice and thought it was me unconsciously enacting what might have been, I wonder if it’s a “thing”.
If it wasn’t for my stroke I wouldn’t have had my eyes opened either. Whatever you are imagine about these groups is a myth. But I won’t try to convert you I promise I’m a quiet person and if it wasn’t for my stroke and aphasia I would never have sought these resources out. So I’ll always be eternally grateful to them for they’ve done for my recovery
Hi @Catlover
Welcome to the community, I’m sorry to hear about your stroke.
As a few people have already said, there is no need to feel like a fraud. Everyone’s stroke affects them differently and just because you may not have any physical difficulties that doesn’t mean what you’re going through isn’t valid.
Fear and anxiety of another stroke are very common, you may find this webpage helpful that talks about the emotional effects of stroke, which includes anxiety.

@Anna_Moderator thank you Anna I’ve had a really warm welcome to the community and have already received a lot of help, I have quickly followed the link you included and that does look very interesting and I’ll be spending some time on it later, I’m so glad I was directed to the forum by the Stroke Association helpdesk. Thanks again for your kind reply.
Hello @Catlover
Welcome to the community and congratulations on the recovery you have made from your stroke since August. Post stroke fear totally understandable, all we can do is maintain a healthy lifestyle to minimise risks. I have found mindfulness meditation very useful when I feel life getting on top of me. Wishing you all the best with your continuing recovery m
@Rob6 thanks very much for your kind welcome, advice and good wishes, much appreciated.
