Gym strengthening excercises post stroke

Do you a seated leg/hamstring curl machine at your gym? It should look something like this:

This is one machine I that helped with my foot drop as well as strengthening legs, because one has a knock on effect on the other :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, I like this one and someone told me the abductor is good for foot drop

Hello just seeing this post now and reading through, lots of good information here. Just wanted to add that if you can do a farmers carry you should see massive benefits.
Theres evidence that in ‘healthy’ (not stroke victims) this is a key exercise to promoting longevity and quality of life.
To put it simply, improving your grip strength is often overlooked when it’s one thing you use day to day, stroke or not!

I’m currently doing a lot of running and find cardio has benefitted me massively in recovery. And I use a sauna often.
Yoga once a week was good for my balance and core.

:joy: had to look up Farmers carry, has never heard of it, it will be a while before I can do that as not walking independent of my stick yet, but looking at all the gym bunnies that can this afternoon, I can’t wait to be a ‘normal’ gym user again.

It’s the same as carrying two big bags of groceries. I did that most of my life until I learnt to drive

It might be worth giving it a try as the weights can help keep you more centralised and grounded.
