Does anyone else suffer from pins and needles/tingling in their “good” hand? I use a quad stick for walking and wonder if it’s the pressure on my hand.
I think you’re probably right. I was the same at first.
Sounds like it could be pressure from the stick. I had issues initially but they have settled now.
Hope it eases soon so annoying to experience it in my “good” hand, makes everything even more difficult!
Hello Janet - I am not a stroke survivor and I have this problem. I get pins and needles/tingling in my dominant hand (right hand) and it is usually mostly a morning thing. So when I brush my teeth etc. During the day it seems to disappear, though if I am pushing hard on something or gripping something hard for a long time e.g. chopping vegetables or something, then again, this can happen.
After a long time of putting up with it, I went to see my GP and they did some blood tests and noticed my B12 vitamin was very low and I was given a booster jab. This brought my B12 level back to normal, but my needles and pins remains so I am on the waiting list to see a neurologist.
As well as that, my Mum who is a stroke survivor does sometime go into a scratching frenzy with her “good” hand as that is the only hand she can use post stroke and we believe this could be to relive her from a needles and pins sensation - she cannot talk and her aphasia makes it difficult for us to find out what the root cause might be.
I am responding as it may not necessarily be a stroke related issue. You might want to see your GP to see if they can suggest anything or do a test.

Hi @Janet1 I recently began getting pins and needles and pain in my good hand and thought it could be the wooden handled walking stick I had been using for 7 years. So changed to a walking stick with a shaped handle which I’m pleased to say is much more comfortable and easier on my hand. I still get the occasional pins and needles first thing in the morning but overall things are much better.
Hope you find something that works for you.
Regards Sue
