Great to see that Hilary’s treatment has made such a difference to how she’s recovering. The NHS at its best.
Your post bought a little tear to my eye as it is obvious how much she means to you.

My introduction to stroke was very similiar and getting my partner to recognise that something was wrong was very tricky, not being able to talk I couldnt tell her and my system was shaking her till I’d got her attention and then picking up my dead right arm with my left hand and letting it drop back to the bed. I did this several times till she caught on and said “You’ve had a bad turn” and called for an ambulance which like yours was very quick turning up.

It’s only been a week coping alone. I’ve started taking a cooked meal in the hospital restaurant obeying the first rule.
Take care of yourself and your needs first and then be in a state to be useful.
Get help, involve others.
Know when to take a break and rest.
I’m thankful I have my scooter and a car that let me have some mobility.
I’m also thankful that so many stepped up and helped us find a direction that is having positive results.
Thanks also for the safe place in this community where I can voice my thoughts and untangle the chaos, fear, loneliness and begin to find a way forward.

My wife didn’t realise I was having a stroke with it been my speech. I had no other signs showing. But it then triggered and ambulance called and within 10 mins I was been checked out by the crew. Blue lighted into hospital and went through the checking system straight away.
Didn’t need the blood clotting drug they said as things were returning to normal after I arrived. But we have a great NHS and we should be very proud of them. 
She looks very well considering what’s happened and I’m sure she will only smack you gently.
Remember to look after yourself and hope she’s soon home.

I’m devastated. I have received an £80 fine at the hospital car park.
I registered my car and my blue badge with the hospital, so I get free parking.
I forgot to display my badge on my last visit and now have to pay far more than what the parking fee would have been if I wasn’t eligible for ‘free’ parking.
I’m a pensioner, disabled, visiting my carer who is in hospital. I’m in need of support, not envisaging loss of money.
Another expensive, unpleasant experience. I’ll just have to pay up and lick my wounds.
Not a happy time. Yes, stroke is the root of much distress.
What a very miserable experience. I’m so sorry.
Ouch, flaming bureaucrats.
I think I’m doing alright really.
I’m disabled, need help sometimes, but thankful when it appears.

Bobbi, great to see a video and questions about where you are meant to go next!!! Well done for being there for Hilary. Hopefully she’ll have good rehab, and you get to the hospital. Btw I have nuts and kefir for brekkie, which is manageable with one hand ! Good luck with it all!
Years ago I got a parking ticket which I didn’t agree with so I wrote and complained/queried…(think it was Edinburgh council) eventually they voided the charge (to cut a story short!) if you feel u have the energy it might be worth writing to them and having a go!!! (U have a viable emergency case) Ya never know…might work eh! Of course, cough up if you feel it’s too much hassle tho…,mebbe not worth the effort….

This is an honest mistake and I don’t believe you have been “unfairly penalised” i.e. whoever slapped the ticket on didn’t know you had exemption. So they were only doing their job and I don’t believe they were jobsworths or bureaucrats at this stage - an honest mistake and someone doing their job. Nothing wrong with that so far …
As this is an honest mistake and I expect most would consider it understandable under the circumstances i.e. you are visiting your carer in hospital which might be considered very stressful. For that reason, I believe this is what you should do.
Things are aren’t always as bad as they seem and sometimes our first [over] reaction might need to be reconsidered.
It’s your choice if you wish to pursue this line of action or if you prefer to pay the fine and be done with it.
And of course will get up again, as you always do
Eeeek. You could try appealing to their better nature - nothing to lose. Easy mistake to make in the circumstances.
Hopefully Hilary is doing well & fingers crossed she is home soon & no more hospital visits needed.
To appeal a hospital parking ticket when you forgot to display your Blue Badge, submit an informal appeal in writing or online using the details on your ticket within 14 days. Include your ticket reference, vehicle registration, a clear photo or copy of your valid Blue Badge, your hospital appointment letter, and an honest explanation that you hold a valid badge but forgot to show it.
What to Include in Your Appeal
Bob this happens when we drop off at hospitals. We are more interested in the person we are taking than remembering the blue badge. Eve though our vehicles state the disabled vehicle sign on them.
We follow this process and the ticket is retracted. Worth a go.
