Hi everyone,
We’ve noticed some members choose to sign off their posts with their first name. It is entirely up to you how you sign off your posts, but we wanted to gently flag a few things to keep in mind, especially if you’re sharing personal or sensitive experiences.
1. The Online Community is public
Anyone can read the posts you write on the Online Community, even if they don’t have an account.
2. Adding your name can make you identifiable
Even if your username doesn’t say who you are, signing off with your name might, and that means people could connect your posts to you outside the community.
3. If you change your mind later, it’s not easy to undo
If you’ve signed off with your name in lots of posts, removing it means going back and editing each one. That may take a lot of time if you have written a lot of posts, and we’re not able to make those edits for you.
4. Your post could be shared elsewhere
If someone takes a screenshot, your name will be on it, and there’s no way to control where that goes.
We hope this update is helpful. If you have any questions, please contact the team at online.community@stroke.org.uk.
