Hi Bobbi,
Can I add The Prince of Denmark’s March by Jeremiah Clarke, still love it over 45 years since first hearing it. Love music in general and seem countless bands since my teems.
Another tune or two that have stuck lifelong Sound of Silence - Simon and Garfunkle, Gaudette - Steel Eye Span , more recently The Dead South- In Hell I’ll Be Good Company.
I have Classic FM as my background when the TV isn’t on but my favourite has always been Faure’s Pavane
Hi Roland - I don’t know where it has come from but for many years I have had it in my head that whilst John McCabe composed the theme for Sam, he based it on or borrowed from Janacek. I had never heard of Jancek prior to that and ended up seeking out a CD that I believe had this link. I have now misplaced that CD and so can’t play it . It is very strange how this has happened as I can’t imagine how this could be so lodged in my brain.
Anyway it’s a lovely piece of music.
Bach’s G string is one I did know - from the famous “Happiness is a cigar called Hamlet” with the brilliant Gregor Fisher aka Rab C Nesbitt ![]()
I am not surprised Rupert @Rups is tickled by air on a G-string ![]()
To everyone who has replied - I really appreciate your comments. I am pleased I have now found out the composers whose tunes I have heard but did not know e.g. Faure’s Pavane (thanks @RustyJames ), all the tunes mentioned by @Jbob - Gaudette by Steelye Span.
@Mich-mm - I was hooked on Ludovico Einaudi’s Le Onde and played it on repeat at work until it started to annoy my boss !!
Even more amusing that you have called it Bach’s G String. ![]()
This one is a favourite ever since I saw the movie. More contemporary, but heartwarming and full of hope for me.
I thought I’m better at technology, but today I can’t figure out how to embed this yutube link here other than :
