A maverick is an unbranded range animal, but more commonly refers to a person who is unconventional, independent, and does not go along with a group or its expected norm. The term can also be used as an adjective to describe someone or something that exhibits this independent spirit. Also a character in the extraordinary 1986 film of my childhood-Top Gun.

Yeti (aka The Abominable Snowman)–a legendary ape-like creature said to ihnabit the Himalayas, often viewd as a spititual entity or guardian of the mountains. The myth stretches back centuries in Tibetan and Nepali folklore. The term Abominable Snowman was coined in 1921 after a British expedition found large footprints in the snow.
